When Microsoft launched YouthSpark in 2012, the companywide initiative set out to create education, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for 300 million young people over the course of three years.

Two years into the effort, Microsoft YouthSpark has created opportunities for 227 million young people in more than 100 countries, working together with governments, businesses and more than 350 youth-serving nonprofit organizations.

However, despite pockets of recovery in the global economy, worldwide unemployment continues to rise, particularly among youth between the ages of 15 and 24.

Today the YouthSpark initiative outlined commitments to expand technology education and turn the tide of rising youth unemployment. Check out the Official Microsoft Blog to celebrate the success stories of the past two years (like Joshua Owadiae's inspirational story below) and learn about plans for the future.
