TechNet flash update for Kiwi IT Pros
MVA Free Online Learning@technetnzTechNet NZ BlogTechNet NZ Site
Attend the MSA student showcase

As an IT Professional you are now recognized as a source of innovation and efficiency. Businesses are beginning to understand that they can’t be great without a great IT organization. Over the next four years, only 25% of respondents in a Forrester Research report would have their enterprise infrastructure in company-owned facilities. What does that mean for you?

Being ready to move to the cloud is a huge opportunity for your career.

Why there’s confidence in the cloud

It’s not just the financial savings (‘cloudonomics’), the increase in security, and productivity. You can also gain the edge for your business in outperforming your competitors. To see who else is on Azure already, have a look at these case studies from other Kiwi companies who're already in the cloud.

Take the next step

As a forward leaning IT Pro taking the Azure IaaS for IT Pros courses from MVA is a great first step. The Virtual Machines Readiness Assessment Tool is also available for download to automatically inspect your on-premises environment and provide a check list, plus a detailed report on the next steps you need to take before you move onwards and upwards.

Another way to prove your Azure readiness is to sit the Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions exam.

You’ll also want to review whether you want to have a hybrid solution, or not. This course on Azure Networking Fundamentals as well as these hybrid cloud resources can help you on that journey. I’m also hosting a hybrid cloud IT Camp on 19 March in Auckland. To help you decide if Azure is the right platform take the free one month Azure trial and check out a comparison of competitor offers here and here.

If you’re getting as far as consulting the budget, there is a handy Azure pricing calculator available. You can purchase Azure using a credit card, enterprise agreement, or using the new open licensing option through your existing reseller.

The future of IT

The move to the cloud is a journey that will take your business into the future. The future of IT is also in our younger generation. Starting in March I’ll be making my way around several, large NZ Polytechnics to offer industry exposure to the students, answer questions and to take them over the free, online learning resource that is Microsoft Virtual Academy.

There’s plenty of preparation for everyone to be ready! Better get started now. Ready, steady - cloud!
