This is huge for SQL on Azure VMs as you will have the ability to attach persistent SSDs to an Azure VM which should allow for up to 50,000 IOPS instead of the current maximum, if properly set up within a storage pool, of 8,000 IOPS.
This should allow for significantly easier set up and faster performance in Azure for your SQL Server VMs.
