Celebrating ten years of fostering youth development, Microsoft Taiwan recently launched its ‘Aim High, Get High’ book that highlights the internship stories and achievements of the Microsoft Taiwan Student Programme over the past decade.

Through the Microsoft Taiwan Student Programme, students explore their future career potential through corporate internship stints in four main professional fields: marketing, sales, technical support and administration. More than a hundred tertiary students are enrolled with the programme each year, and the experience gained during their internships opens up employment opportunities as future professionals.

Launched on 28 March, the commemorative ‘Aim High, Get High’ book is a collaboration between Microsoft Taiwan and Commonwealth Publishing that provides a snapshot of the interns’ workplace experiences, and features insights into career development provided by top Microsoft executives and other corporate leaders in Taiwan.

The launch ceremony was attended by government officials and prominent members of the community. Xu Yu-Xue, Deputy Secretary of the Taipei City Government Department of Labor, expressed her appreciation for the positive influence of the Microsoft Taiwan Student Programme.

“The internship stories featured in this book are a great source of inspiration for young people who have the passion and ambition to make a positive impact on the world. The Microsoft Taiwan Student Programme also showcases how enterprises can work closely together to establish a brighter future for the next generation,” said Ms Xu.

During the book launch, former interns of the programme shared their internship experiences and key learnings with the audience. Invited speakers included Gao Yu-Xiu, BMW Brand Ambassador in Taiwan; Zhang Kun-Yu, Senior Sales Representative at Johnson & Johnson; and Lin Yi-Ru, Co-founder of Polydice.

Davis Tsai, General Manager of Microsoft Taiwan, said, “When the Microsoft Taiwan Student Programme was established ten years ago, we wanted to provide a platform to train and nurture talented young people in Taiwan. To date, the programme has helped many students develop professional skills, while achieving a successful employment rate of 96 percent. Microsoft remains dedicated to helping future generations realise their potential, and we will continue to invest in cultivating young and promising talents in Taiwan.”
