From Partners in Learning to Microsoft Youthspark, there’s no doubting Microsoft’s commitment to youth opportunity and education. That commitment comes to light once again as Microsoft announces it will distribute free Surface RT tablets to the schools of up to 10,000 educators attending the annual International Society for Technology in Education 2013 Conference (ISTE). This offer applies to the first attendees to become qualified registrants (a simple process) as part of the Windows in the Classroom Surface Experience Project, which aims to help teachers see how Windows 8 creates engaging teaching and learning opportunities for their students.
Microsoft is also offering special pricing on Surface RT tablets directly to schools and universities in 26 markets around the globe, including the U.S., for a limited time. Between June 17 and Aug. 31, 2013, K–12 and higher education institutions can purchase any amount of Surface RT (32 GB) devices for $199, with the Touch Cover for $249 and with the Type Cover for $289 while supplies last.
