A remarkable long-term collaboration between Microsoft, the Colombian government and the Arhuaco indigenous people has yielded a cloud-based solution that helps preserve the latter’s culture and environment.
The Microsoft Research Connections Blog recounts the story of this three-year project, which has enabled the Arhuaco people to keep records of their people, lands and sacred places. The technology behind that native autonomy and oversight is based on customer relationship management models.
What makes this such an interesting story is the intersection of these partners toward a common goal. Forging trust in technology came through several steps, including establishing an exchange of experiences and developing a series of digital narratives with these remote people, who live in the mountains of northern Colombia.
