Fortune spoke to Nancy Tellem, the president of Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios, about some of the upcoming original programming exclusively for Xbox Live.

At Fortune's Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colo., Tellem revealed a few details about the upcoming Halo series. The popular game franchise has generated more than $3 billion in sales since it was first released in 2001.

“The next step was go deeper in narrative into the Halo mythology by creating a premium series," Tellem said during the panel. Tellem said Steven Spielberg, an avid Halo fan, would be working with Microsoft on the program.

Though she couldn’t yet provide specific examples, Tellem said future programming will include more interactivity, including live events, news and unscripted or reality shows.

"Unlike developing a show and adding interactivity after the fact," she said, "we are going to start from the beginning. You can't have interactivity for interactivity's sake."

Tellem has had an extensive career in television, much of it at CBS where she was involved with the creation of hit shows including Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI and ER.
