米国シアトルで 5 月に Microsoft Build 2017 が開催されます【2/12 更新】

Loading CSV/text files with more than a million rows into Excel

1. The Problem

If you usually load a very large CSV (comma-separated values) file or text file into Excel, you might run into the dreaded “File not loaded completely” message:

As the message explains, the file you are trying to load is too large for Excel to handle. For me, it typically happens with large log files with more than 1 million rows (technically more than 1,048,576 rows). The proposed workarounds involve breaking the file into smaller chunks or using another application to process the data (Access or Power BI can handle this kind of stuff). I ran into this in Excel so many times that I ended up posting a blog on how to break these files up. I called the post “Splitting logs with PowerShell“. That was still a pain and I could never create a nice summary of the entire dataset in a single PivotTable.

2. The Solution

Well, it turns out there is a way to handle this situation using only Excel, if what you’re trying to do in the end is use Pivot Tables to process the information. Excel has a way to import data from a text file without actually loading the file into a sheet (which still won’t take more than a million rows).

You basically load the data into what Excel calls a Data Model, keeping just a link to the original CSV file. After that, you can create a Pivot Table directly from the Data Model. With that method, you will be able to load millions of rows. So far I have used this with up to 8.5 million rows with no problem at all.

You might be thinking that this whole business of creating Data Models is hard, but it’s surprisingly simple.

3. The Steps

Let’s go over the process for loading the CSV into the Data Model. My screenshots use Excel 2016 and that’s the only one I actually tested myself. I did hear that this functionality is also available in Excel 2013 and Excel 2010, but that you will have to test that yourself. If it works for you with these older versions, please post a comment.

To start, you will want to open Excel with a blank spreadsheet and look at the “Data” tab. Here’s what it looks like for me:

The command we will use is the second on that tab, called “New Query”. In some recent pre-release versions of Excel that might show up as “Get Data”.

As shown above, you want to select “New Query”, then “From File”, then “From CSV”. After that, you will be prompted for the file in the usual dialog.

Once the file is opened, you will land in a preview of the file, as shown below.

There is an “Edit” option that allows you to do some filtering and editing before loading the data, but we will take the simplest route and use the “Load To…” option.
IMPORTANT: The simpler “Load” option will not work here. You have to click on the small down arrow next to load and select “Load To…”.

Now here is the key step in the whole process. In the “Load To” dialog, you must select “Add this data to the Data Model”, which will allow you to select the option “Only Create Connection” option. This means we’re not loading the data to an Excel sheet/table. This is crucial, since the sheet has the 1-million-row limit, but the Data Model doesn’t. After that, click “Load”.

And with that, you will start to load the whole large file. In my case, I had 2 million rows. This might take a while, so please be patient as Excel loads the data.

One thing you will notice is that your newly loaded data does not show anywhere in the spreadsheet itself. You have to remember that you data lives in the Data Model, which is separate from the regular data sheets. However, if you save the XLSX file, you will notice the file will be large, so you know that there’s something there.

So, how do you see the data? You have to use the option to Manage the Data Model. You see that as the first option in the Power Pivot tab. See below.

When you click on Manage, you will be taken to the Data Model as shown below:

In this special window, called “Power Pivot for Excel”, you will see the data in the Data Model. You will also be able to add calculated columns, filter the data, format the columns and perform all kinds of management activities. This is not a regular Excel data sheet, so you can’t simply create Excel formulas here. However, all you millions of rows will be here, as you can see below. That’s something you don’t usually see in Excel…

OK. But we loaded the millions of rows to create a PivotTable, right? So you probably already noticed that right there in the Home tab of the Power Pivot window, there is a PivotTable button. You just have to click on it.

The PivotTable option from the Data Model does not even ask for the data source. It rightly assumes that the Data Model is the source and all you have to do is provide the location where you want to create the PivotTable. You can use the empty Sheet1 that came with your empty spreadsheet.

At this point, if you used Pivot Tables before, you should be in familiar territory. The columns coming from the Data Model will be available to use as Columns, Rows, Values or Filters in the Pivot Table. Here’s a sample:

266.     Jak zobrazit protokoly systému?

Velkou výhodou operačního systému Windows je velice podrobné logování všech prováděných operací, aktivit systémových služeb, prostě všeho, co se na počítači děje. V případě řešení problému pak lze v logu najít velice podrobné informace a často i důvod vzniklého problému. Tyto logy a protokoly systému naleznete v Prohlížeči událostí. Naleznete jej v nabídce Start pod názvem Zobrazit protokoly událostí. Základní protokoly systému Windows jsou rozděleny pěti skupin (Aplikace, Zabezpečení, Instalace, Systém a Předané události). Po kliknutí na jednu z kategorií se zobrazí seznam všech protokolů a při dvojkliku na vybraný protokol se zobrazí podrobné informace o něm. Zejména na protokoly s ikonkou červeného křížku byste si měli dávat pozor, protože mohou značit nějaký větší problém. Na jednu stranu lze v Prohlížeči událostí nalézt velice podrobné informace, na druhou stranu se jedná o nástroj, který běžní domácí uživatelé téměř nevyužijí.
 

267.     Jak zobrazit podrobnosti o ovladači zařízení?

Ovladač zařízení je alfou a omegou jeho fungování v systému a naprostá většina problémů se systémem a instalovaným hardwarem je z důvodu špatně napsaných ovladačů od výrobce. Proto je vhodné v případě problému si zjistit na webu výrobce, zda pro vaše zařízení neexistuje novější verze. Zejména větší a seriózní výrobci v případě nalezené chyby vydávají poměrně rychle opravený ovladač a například jeden z největších výrobců grafických čipů společnost AMD (dříve známá jako ATI) vydává nové ovladače pro své karty v pravidelném měsíčním intervalu. Pokud chcete zjistit, jakou přesnou verzi ovladače máte pro dané zařízení nainstalovanou, je nutné si spustit Správce zařízení, který najdete v Ovládacích panelech v panelu Systém. Zde si jen stačí najít dle kategorie zařízení, u kterého chcete zjistit verzi ovladače, kliknout na něj pravým tlačítkem myši a zvolit příkaz Vlastnosti. Na kartě Ovladač poté naleznete potřebnou informaci. Pokud zjistíte, že máte ovladač zařízení starý např. dva roky a více, nemusí se v případě bezchybného fungování jednat o žádný problém. Naopak, výrobce zjistil, že od posledního vydání ovladače nebyl zjištěn žádný problém a proto žádnou novou verzi nevydal. Pouze několik málo typů ovladačů (např. právě pro grafické karty) přináší nové funkce nebo zlepšení výkonu. U drtivé většiny zařízení se ale jedná o řešení problémů, a pokud žádný se zařízením nemáte, není důvod ovladač aktualizovat. Nicméně nemůžete čekat, že výrobce bude zařízení podporovat donekonečna a je naprosto běžné, že například pro svou šest let starou zvukovou kartu už pro Windows 10 ovladač neseženete a tudíž bude v tomto systému nefunkční.

268.     Jak nastavit v BIOSu bootování z CD/DVD?

V případě, že chcete provést reinstalaci systému (a v určitých případech i instalaci na nový počítač), je nutné v BIOSu počítače (základní softwarové vybavení na základní desce, které detekuje připojené zařízení a po úspěšné kontrole předává „řízení“ operačnímu systému) nastavit, aby se jako první pokusil počítač nastartovat systém z CD/DVD mechaniky. Pokud byste totiž měli na počítači nainstalovaný poškozený systém a chtěli ho přeinstalovat, počítač by se pořád pokoušel o start z pevného disku a ne z instalačního DVD. Proto je nutné v BIOSu nastavit pořadí zařízení, ze kterých se bude systém pokoušet nastartovat operační systém. Většinou se to provádí v nastavení pojmenovaném BOOT, kde pouhým posunem položek změníte pořadí nastavení. Systém Windows 10 lze nainstalovat např. i z USB flash disku, v případě této situace tedy jako první možnost nastavte USB zařízení. Po úspěšné instalaci můžete vrátit na první místo pevný disk, zrychlí se tím o něco start systému, protože BIOS nebude hledat spustitelná média v DVD mechanice nebo v USB konektoru, ale jako první použije pevný disk a z něj přímo nastartuje operační systém.

269.     Jaké má výhody mít více nainstalovaných systémů?

Někteří uživatelé mají na svých počítačích nainstalováno více operačních systémů a v případě potřeby mezi nimi mohou přepínat a pracovat v tom, který zrovna potřebují. Možná si říkáte, k čemu je dobré mít více systémů na jednom počítači, tady je několik příkladů:
• Potřebujete pro svou práci nějakou starší aplikaci, která v novějším systému již neběží (nicméně toto se dá řešit přes různé virtualizační nástroje).
• Potřebujete pro svou práci nějaký typ HW, pro který nejsou na nový operační systém dostupné ovladače.
• Potřebujete více OS pro různá testování a porovnání výkonu počítače
apod.
Nicméně další důvod, který u některých uživatelů s příchodem Windows 10 pravděpodobně nastane, je prostý. Někteří uživatelé, kteří zaslechli informace o tom, jak je systém Windows 10 jiný, se budou „bát“ jej rovnou nasadit jako hlavní systém, a tak si budou chtít ponechat např. i předchozí Windows 7 do té doby, než si na Windows 10 zvyknou. Budou tak mít jistotu, že se pouhým restartem počítače vrátí do prostředí Windows 7. Možná by někoho napadl i další důvod – nejistota správného běhu hardwarových komponent a periferií pod Windows 10, ale zde vás mohu uklidnit. Jednak si většina výrobců vzala ohledně vývoje ovladačů na novější OS ponaučení (a velké množství z nich vydávaly ovladače na Windows 10 dokonce ještě před uveřejněním finální verze) a jednak s téměř jistotou lze říci, že pokud vám nějaká komponenta či periferie fungovala pod Windows 7, bude bez problémů fungovat i pod „osmičkami“.

270.     Jaké jsou doporučení při instalaci více systémů?

Co je teda potřeba splnit pro správné fungování běhu dvou (a více) operačních systémů na jednom počítači? Především je vhodné dodržet zásadu mít na počítači nainstalovanou starší verzi systému a pak teprve jako druhý systém instalovat nějakou novější. Je to z toho důvodu, že každý systém má svůj vlastní spouštěcí zavaděč a pochopitelně novější systémy vědí, jak vypadal zavaděč toho předchozího, ale naopak nikoliv.
Dále je potřeba, aby byl v počítači druhý pevný disk (nebo alespoň druhý diskový oddíl), na kterém není žádný jiný operační systém nainstalován. Pokud máte disk rozdělený na dva oddíly (systémový a datový), jak je několikrát v této knize doporučováno, máte “vyhráno”. Jednoduše nainstalujete nový systém na datový oddíl. Pokud máte však pouze jeden oddíl, nezoufejte. Windows 7 (předpokládejme tedy dále, že chcete mít na počítači souběžně Windows 7 a Windows 10) mají v sobě Správce disků, který umožňuje zmenšit stávající diskový oddíl a ze vzniklého prázdného místa vytvořit oddíl nový, který použijeme právě pro instalaci Windows 10.

OS 標準 NIC チーミング (LBFO : Load Balancing and Failover) 構成時の動作について

Windows プラットフォーム サポートチームです。

本日は、Windows Server 2012 以降の OS 標準 NIC チーミング (LBFO : Load Balancing and Failover) 構成時の注意点について取り上げます。

– 現象
LBFO を構成したサーバー上で、ルーティング (RRAS) の機能を有効にし、リピータハブに接続するとパケットがループする現象が発生します。
例えば、下図のような構成では、以下の順番でパケットが処理されるため、結果、パケットがループします。

1. 送信元サーバーから宛先サーバーに対して、パケットを送信します。
2. LBFO を構成したサーバーが、リピータ ハブから転送されたパケットを受信します。
3. LBFO を構成したサーバーでルーティングが有効となっている場合は、宛先 MAC アドレスが自身の NIC の MAC アドレス宛てではないパケットもルーティング処理します。
4. ルーティングされたパケットがリピータ ハブからさらに転送されて自身で受信するため、パケットがループします。

– 原因

LBFO で NIC チーミングを構成 (チーミング モード：スイッチに依存しない) した場合は、
LBFO における仮想アダプターの MAC アドレス宛てのパケットを、メンバー NIC で受信する必要があるため、プロミスキャス モードで動作します。
そのため、宛先 MAC アドレスが異なるパケットについても、物理 NIC で受信する動作となるため、その後、TCP/IP のレイヤでパケットが処理されます。
もし、LBFO を構成している環境でルーティングの設定を行っている場合は、宛先 MAC アドレスが異なるパケットもルーティング処理の対象となります。

 

– 対応策
LBFO で構成した複数の NIC をリピータ ハブに接続しないようにご注意ください。

Windows で出力されるセキュリティ イベントの一覧情報について

こんにちは、Windows プラットフォーム サポートの串田です。
今回は、Windows OS で出力されるセキュリティ イベント ログの一覧がまとめられたファイルの取得方法、およびファイルの見方についてご紹介いたします。

 

近年セキュリティの重要性が一層高まっており、
Windows のセキュリティ ログに出力されるイベントを監視しているお客様も多くいらっしゃると存じます。
しかし、セキュリティ ログに出力されるイベントは多種多様であり、お客様側でイベントを全て把握することは困難です。
お客様からも “監視するイベントを検討したいが、そもそもどんなイベントが出力されるのか、OS によって差異はあるのか” などお問い合わせをいただくことがあります。
このため、弊社でもセキュリティ ログに出力されるイベントをまとめた情報は公開しているのですが、bing や Google で検索しても見つかり難い状況でした。

 

そこで、AD サポート チームより、現在サポートされている OS のセキュリティ イベントの一覧がまとめられた Excel ファイルが取得可能なサイトを案内させていただきます。
どの監査ポリシーを設定することで出力されるのか、どの OS から記録されるイベントなのかなど英語版ではありますが、情報がまとまっています。
以下にそれぞれ URL と Excel ファイルの見方を記載いたしますので、運用環境に合わせてご取得いただければと思います。

Warum wir noch mehr Mädchen für Technik begeistern müssen

Sie kennen sicher Marie Curie, aber wahrscheinlich nicht Mary Somerville. Vielleicht ist Ihnen Ada Lovelace ein Begriff oder sogar Grace Hopper. Aber haben Sie jemals von Margaret Hamilton, Betty Holberton oder Elsie Shutt gehört? Keine Sorge, das geht den meisten Menschen so. Bei der Frage nach bedeutenden weiblichen Wissenschaftlern oder nach Pionierinnen des Digitalzeitalters herrscht oft Ratlosigkeit. Dabei waren Mathematikerinnen und Programmiererinnen für die Entwicklung der Informatik gerade in ihrer Frühzeit durchaus prägend. Doch seit dem Siegeszug des PCs in den frühen 1980er Jahren sind die Leistungen dieser Frauen ebenso in Vergessenheit geraten, wie die Arbeit der „Rocket Girls“ der NASA, ohne die die Mondlandung der Amerikaner nicht möglich gewesen wäre. Heute ist die öffentliche Wahrnehmung vielmehr geprägt von den erstaunlichen Erfolgsgeschichten eines Bill Gates, Steve Jobs oder Mark Zuckerberg. Kein Problem, könnte man meinen. Ist es aber doch. Nämlich für die Motivation von Mädchen, sich mit Naturwissenschaften, Technik und IT zu beschäftigen.

 

Mädchen brauchen Vorbilder

Darauf weist eine aktuelle Studie zum Thema „Mädchen und MINT-Fächer“ (The When & Why of STEM Gender Gap) hin. Demnach denkt die Mehrheit der Mädchen in Deutschland zuerst an einen Mann, wenn sie sich einen Wissenschaftler vorstellt. Gleichzeitig wünscht sich hierzulande fast jedes zweite Mädchen „mehr weibliche Vorbilder in der Berufswelt“. Doch woher sollen kurzfristig mehr Vorbilder kommen, wenn sich laut aktueller Pisa-Studie noch immer nur 13 Prozent der deutschen Mädchen vorstellen können, später im Bereich Naturwissenschaften zu arbeiten. Deshalb ist es so wichtig, dass die real existierenden Vorbilder mehr Beachtung finden. Einen Beitrag dazu können Filme wie „Hidden Figures“ leisten. Die für drei Oscars nominierte Geschichte von drei afroamerikanischen Mathematikerinnen, die maßgeblich am Mercury- und am Apollo-Programm der NASA beteiligt waren, und inspiriert hoffentlich auch hierzulande das eine oder andere Mädchen.

Denn ein „lasst die Mädchen doch mit Mathe in Ruhe“, wie es vor kurzem auf Zeit Online   postuliert wurde, ist für mich nicht akzeptabel – einerseits wegen des weiter wachsenden Fachkräftemangels, der eine echte Bedrohung für den Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland darstellt, andererseits, weil wir nicht zulassen dürfen, dass sich die Chancen von Mädchen in einer zunehmend von Technologie geprägten Arbeitswelt weiter verschlechtern. Auch werden in den kommenden Jahren in der technologischen Entwicklung überaus wichtige Weichen gestellt, zum Beispiel im Bereich künstliche Intelligenz. Wenn wir nicht bald mehr Mädchen für Technik begeistern, dann wird unsere Zukunft allein von männlichen Softwareingenieuren geschrieben.

 

Interesse an MINT lässt mit 16 abrupt nach

Was können wir also tun? In unserer Studie zeigte sich, dass das Interesse an MINT-Fächern bei Mädchen zwischen elf und 16 Jahren am größten ist und dann ziemlich abrupt nachlässt. Neben fehlenden Vorbildern spielt auch mangelndes Selbstvertrauen eine wichtige Rolle. Fast jedes vierte Mädchen glaubt, dass es in MINT-Fächern niemals so gut sein kann wie ein Junge. An dieser Stelle sind Lehrer – aber auch Eltern – explizit gefordert, Mädchen mehr Mut zu machen. Mädchen legen außerdem besonderen Wert auf Kreativität und wollen Dinge selber entdecken und erforschen.

Wenn wir endlich mehr digitale Medien in der Schule einsetzen, fördern wir dadurch nicht nur den Aufbau der so dringend benötigten digitalen Kompetenz. Wir gewinnen auch tolle neue Möglichkeiten den Unterricht individueller, kreativer und lebendiger zu gestalten. Die Möglichkeiten werden auch bereits vielerorts genutzt: Da bauen Schüler historische Gebäude mit Minecraft nach, komponieren gemeinsam mit DJs per Softwarecode Musik oder programmieren lebensnahe Anwendungen für den Unterricht. Allerdings hängen solche Projekte fast immer vom persönlichen Engagement einzelner Lehrkräfte ab. Damit sich das ändert, brauchen wir dringend verbindliche Standards für digitale Bildung. Die meisten europäischen Länder haben ‚Coding‘ bereits in den Lehrplan aufgenommen oder planen dies in naher Zukunft. Wir sollten schnellstmöglich nachziehen. Damit Mädchen wie Jungen die digitale Zukunft aktiv mitgestalten können, benötigen sie zumindest Grundkenntnisse im Programmieren.

Kreativität in MINT entdecken

Unsere Studie hat auch gezeigt, dass sich das Interesse von Mädchen an MINT-Fächern dadurch steigern lässt, wenn es gelingt einen positiven Sinn zu vermitteln. Es gilt deshalb, möglichst anschaulich zu zeigen, wie sich durch Forschung und Technik wichtige Probleme lösen lassen –  etwa in der Krebsforschung oder beim Klimawandel. Die befragten Mädchen würden es außerdem schätzen, wenn Wissenschaftler ihre Schule besuchen und mit ihnen über ihre Arbeit und Karrieremöglichkeiten im MINT-Bereich sprechen würden. Hier kann auch die IT-Industrie einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten. Indem sie Karrieremöglichkeiten aufzeigt und mit gängigen Vorurteilen über eine männerdominierte Arbeitswelt aufräumt. Indem sie transparent macht, woran sie forscht und wie sie sich die Zukunft vorstellt. Und indem sie selbst kreativ wird um zu beweisen, wieviel Kreativität in Technik stecken kann. Office 365 および Office Premium、2017年 2月 27日でOffice 2013の提供終了

現在、Office 365 および Office Premium をご利用のお客様は、最新の Office 2016 に加えて、Office 2013 もインストールしてご利用いただけますが、2017年2月28日をもちまして、サポートを終了いたします。以降は 最新バージョンのOffice 2016 しかインストールすることができませんので、ご注意ください。

 

＜法人のお客様＞

2013バージョンのOffice 365 ProPlus は 2017年2月28日でサポートを終了となります。早期に2016バージョンへのアップグレードをお勧めいたします。

  •  現在、ユーザーのポータルサイト上で2016バージョンと並列で表示されている2013バージョンのインストーラは、サポート終了とともに、取り下げられます。また、管理者に対しては、管理ポータル内の [ソフトウェア ダウンロード設定] 下で Office 2013 の有効化を選択するためのオプションが表示されなくなります。
  • •サポート終了後は、技術サポート窓口では、2013バージョンのOffice 365 ProPlusに関するお問い合わせは受け付けません。
  •  2018年4月10日までは、緊急および重要に該当するセキュリティ更新プログラムは提供されます。

Officeアプリケーションを開き、[ファイル] – [アカウント] をクリックします。

メールボックスのサイズ制限に気をつけましょう

こんにちは。Exchange サポートの河本です。
日々弊社 Office 365 サービスをご利用頂きありがとうございます。
長らく Office 365 を利用されているユーザー様でメールボックスがサイズ制限を超過してしまい、[削除済みアイテム] フォルダーからメールを完全に削除できなかったりサイズ制限越えの警告メッセージを受信する問い合わせを頂くことがあります。
今回は長期に渡って Office 365 を利用する場合に、メールボックスのサイズ制限に抵触しないように運用する方法をご紹介します。

格納域のサイズ制限について
=============================
各ユーザー メールボックスのサイズ制限は Exchange Online (ExO) へリモート PowerShell 接続し、Get-Mailbox -Identity “<メールボックス名>” |fl *Quota* を実行することで簡単に確認できます。

出力例)
ProhibitSendQuota : 99 GB (106,300,440,576 bytes)
ProhibitSendReceiveQuota : 100 GB (107,374,182,400 bytes)
RecoverableItemsQuota : 100 GB (107,374,182,400 bytes)

ハイライトした箇所に着目頂きたいサイズ制限となりますが、その前に受信トレイ、予定表、送信済みアイテムなどの既定フォルダーが格納されている領域 (1) と “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーと呼ばれる特殊な領域 (2) がある点をご留意ください。(1) の領域では ProhibitSendQuota (送信制限サイズ制限)、ProhibitSendReceiveQuota (送受信制限サイズ制限)、ArchiveQuota (アーカイブ メールボックス サイズ制限)、ArchiveWarningQuota (アーカイブ メールボックスサイズの警告閾値) が定義されており、これらの制限値に達すると制限値に達している警告メッセージを受信したり、メールの送受信できない問題が発生します。(2) の領域はRecoverableItemsQuota ( “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーのサイズ制限) 、RecoverableItemsWarningQuota ([回復可能なアイテム] フォルダーの警告閾値) が定義されており、これらに制限値に達すると制限値に達している警告メッセージを受信したり、 Outlook や Outlook on the Web (Ootw) からアイテムを完全に削除できない (“削除済みアイテム”フォルダーを空にできない) 問題が発生します。

お問い合わせとして多いのが “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーのサイズ制限に抵触する問題ですので、後半で紹介する対処策例も”回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーに焦点を当てております。

現在の使用サイズの確認

プライマリ、アーカイブ メールボックスでそれぞれ以下のコマンドを実行することで、上記の 2 種類の領域のサイズを確認できます。

-プライマリ メールボックスの場合
Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity “<該当メールボックス名>” |fl Total*

-アーカイブ メールボックスの場合
Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity “<該当メールボックス名>” -Archive |fl Total*

以下が出力結果例ですが、TotalItemSize が領域 (1) で占有されているサイズで、 TotalDeletedItemSize が 領域 (2) で占有されているサイズとなります。

TotalDeletedItemSize : 19.19 MB (20,125,445 bytes)
TotalItemSize : 15.15 MB (15,884,986 bytes)

上記の確認結果で、前述の格納域のサイズ制限に達しているのか否かを確認できます。

対処策

上記の使用サイズの確認結果で、対処策としては多く分けて 2 パターンありますので、パターンごとにご案内します。

1) アーカイブ メールボックスが利用できる場合

プライマリ メールボックスの領域のみサイズ制限に抵触しているのであれば、アーカイブ メールボックスにアイテムを移動させるのが簡単な方法です。

既定では “Default MRM Policy” という保持ポリシーが各メールボックスに適用されており、”Default MRM Policy” にリンクされている保持タグに従ってアイテムが整理されます。
“Default MRM Policy” について以下の技術情報をご参考ください。

“Default MRM Policy” は適用されているものの、格納域の制限に抵触したという場合は個別にアイテムをアーカイブに移動する保持タグ/保持ポリシーを作成し、対象メールボックスに適用する必要があります。以下の例ではプライマリ メールボックスの “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダー内のアイテムで 1 日より古いアイテムをアーカイブ メールボックス上の “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーに移動する例です。

1-B-1. 以下のコマンドを実行し、作成から 1 日経過したアイテムをアーカイブ メールボックスに移動する保持タグを作成します。

　New-RetentionPolicyTag “MoveToArchiveIn1day” -Type RecoverableItems -RetentionAction MoveToArchive -AgeLimitForRetention 1

　※設定を初めて変更する場合には、Enable-OrganizationCustomization を実行するよう促すメッセージが出力される場合がございます。
　その際には、メッセージの指示に従い、Enable-OrganizationCustomization を実行頂ければと存じます。

1-B-2. Exchange 管理センターの [コンプライアンス管理] – [アイテム保持ポリシー] より、上記で作成した保持タグを含むよう、新規でアイテム保持ポリシーを作成します。
　その他の保持タグについては必要に応じて既定のポリシーに含まれる保持タグと同一のタグを含めていただければと存じます。

1-B-3. 以下のコマンドを実行し、上記 B-2 で作成したアイテム保持ポリシーを適用します。

　Set-Mailbox “user01@contoso.com” -RetentionPolicy <上記 2 で作成したポリシー名>

1-B-4. 以下のコマンドを実行し、管理フォルダーアシスタントを明示的に実行します。

　Start-ManagedFolderAssistant “user01@contoso.com”

　※新規にポリシーを適用した場合、アイテム数やアイテム サイズによっては全てのアイテムがアーカイブへ移動されるまでに数日程度時間を要する場合がございます。
　　アイテムの移動に時間がかかっている場合は、後述の “MRM の動作確認” にて処理状況を確認し、MRM が全く動作してない状況の場合はコマンドを再度実行ください。

1-B-5. 以下のコマンドを実行して、対象メールボックスの “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーのサイズを確認します。

　Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity “<該当メールボックス名>” |fl Total*

　TotalDeletedItemSize のサイズが減少していることを確認します。

　以下のコマンドを実行することで “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダー内の各サブフォルダーのサイズも確認することができます。

　Get-MailboxFolderStatistics “user01@contoso.com” -FolderScope RecoverableItems | FT FolderPath, FolderSize, FolderAndSubfolderSize

2) アーカイブ メールボックスが利用できない場合

プライマリ メールボックスの格納域の制限に抵触しているが、アーカイブ メールボックスが利用できないまたはアーカイブ メールボックスの格納域の制限にも抵触している場合は、
アイテムを削除する必要があります。以下の例ではSearch-Mailbox コマンドでプライマリ メールボックスの “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダー内のアイテムを削除する方法です。

2-1. Search-Mailbox のコマンドを 実行する為には、あらかじめ権限が必要です。以下のコマンドを実行し、実行するユーザーに権限を与えます。

　例: Add-RoleGroupMember -Identity “Discovery Management” -Member <コマンド実行ユーザー名>

2-2. Search-mailbox コマンドを実行し、回復可能なアイテムをバックアップします。

　コマンド実行例: 2013/10/25 から 2013/10/28に受信した user01 の回復可能なアイテムを検索し、管理者 (admin) のフォルダーの RecoverableItems というフォルダー配下に検索結果を格納します。
　＊指定した名前のフォルダーが無い場合は、コマンド実行により作成されます。

　例: Search-Mailbox user01 -SearchDumpsterOnly -TargetMailbox admin -TargetFolder RecoverableItems -LogLevel Full -SearchQuery ‘Received:10/25/2013..10/28/2013’

<留意点>
エクスポート対象アイテムが 100 GB を超えるような場合は、全てのアイテムをエクスポートすると、エクスポート先のフォルダーの上限 50 GB を超過してしまう懸念があります。
そのため、日付等の条件でエクスポートするアイテムを限定して実施ください。

2-3.Outlook on the web (Ootw) または Outlook にて出力先のメールボックス (上記例では admin) にログインし、回復可能なフォルダー内のアイテムが存在することを確認します。
2-4. 2-2 のコマンド実行完了後、対象ユーザーの訴訟ホールドまたはインプレースホールドを解除します。
*訴訟ホールドを解除する場合は、以下のようにコマンドを実行します。

　例: Set-Mailbox <該当メールボックス名> -LitigationHoldEnabled $false

2-5. Search-mailbox コマンドによりアイテムの削除を行う DeleteContent パラメーターを利用するには、コマンドを実行するユーザーに対して、管理役割 (Mailbox Import Export) を付与します。

　例: New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name “testMailboxImportExport” -Role “Mailbox Import Export” -User admin@contoso.onmicrosoft.com

2-6. Powershell を一度終了し、Exchange Online へ再接続した後、2-2 のコマンドより同一のクエリ条件を指定した上で、Search-Mailbox コマンドにて DeleteContent を指定し、該当の検索対象のアイテムを削除します。

　例: Search-Mailbox user01 -SearchDumpsterOnly -SearchQuery ‘Received:10/25/2013..10/28/2013’ -DeleteContent

2-7. 以下のコマンドを実行して、対象メールボックスの “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダーのサイズを確認します。

　Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity “<該当メールボックス名>” |fl Total*

　TotalDeletedItemSize のサイズが減少していることを確認します。

　以下のコマンドを実行することで “回復可能なアイテム” フォルダー内の各サブフォルダーのサイズも確認することができます。

　Get-MailboxFolderStatistics “user01@contoso.com” -FolderScope RecoverableItems | FT FolderPath, FolderSize, FolderAndSubfolderSize

MRM の動作確認
==============
上記の保持ポリシーを使用する対処策を実施する場合は、手順 1-B-4 のように管理フォルダー アシスタントによってアイテムが移動される必要があります。対処策を実施したが、サイズが小さくならないという場合は、以下のコマンドを実行して管理フォルダー アシスタントが正しく動作しているか確認してみましょう。

以下のようにコマンドを実行することで管理フォルダー アシスタントで何かエラーが出ていないかどうか確認できます。何も表示されない場合は、エラーなく正常に動作していると判断できます。

Export-MailboxDiagnosticLogs “<該当メールボックス名>” -ComponentName MRM

Updated Feature: New Internal Sharing Mails

Mails sent from sharing documents from OneDrive for Business to internal users will have a new modern look that provides more information to the recipient as to what’s being shared at a glance. At this time these mails will no longer be CC’d to the original sender. We will be replacing this behavior by sending these mails from the original sender’s mailbox (as opposed to a no-reply address) in the near future. We’ll be gradually rolling this out to First Release customers in early February. Updated Feature: Skype for Business on Mac client

New Feature: MyAnalytics Welcome Email

Posted: February 8, 2017 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Stay Informed | Action: Awareness | Office 365 Roadmap ID: 64662 | The MyAnalytics welcome email is a new Office 365 feature. You’ll begin seeing this new feature over the coming weeks. After a user has been licensed, MyAnalytics will begin the setup process, start to accrue data (through calendar and email) for that user, and begin to develop statistics on that data. Once setup is completed (this may take a few days), MyAnalytics sends a welcome email to the licensed user. The welcome email gives the user some basic information about MyAnalytics, for example what it is and how it works, and also gives the user a first look at some of their statistics. No action from the user is required in order to receive the welcome email. We’re removing the device compliance reports from Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Office 365

Posted: February 8, 2017 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Plan for Change | Action: Awareness | We are removing device compliance report from MDM for Office 365, beginning February 8, 2017. You will may longer be able to access the device compliance report in the Security & Compliance Center -> Reports, after today. This change should be completely rolled out by the end of February. Instead of using the device compliance report, we recommend using Azure Active Directory PowerShell to get device compliance information. REMINDER: Removing the Office 2013 version of Office 365 ProPlus

MC81842 | Posted: October 19, 2016 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Plan for Change | Action: Required by February 28, 2017 | Office 2016 is the recommended version of Office 365 ProPlus and includes all the latest upgrades and new features. As we announced in September 2015, when we released Office 2016, beginning March 1, 2017, the Office 2013 version of Office 365 ProPlus will no longer be available for installation from the Office 365 portal. Beginning March 1, 2017, your users will no longer see Office 2013 as an option for download through the Office 365 portal, and admins will no longer have the option under Software download settings in the admin portal to choose to enable Office 2013. In addition, we will no longer provide feature updates for this version, nor provide support. We recommend you install Office 2016 as soon as possible to have the latest and greatest features and support. Additional information is available at https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3199744.

 

REMINDER: Project Online requirements are changing

MC89200 | Posted: December 19, 2016 | Urgency: Normal | Category: Prevent or Fix Issues | Action: Awareness | Beginning February 28, 2017, Project Online will require the latest version of Project to connect to Office 365. We are making architectural changes to features in Project Online which impact older versions of Project, connecting to Project Online. If you are using Project 2016, you need to be on a supported build to connect to Project Online. For Project Professional 2016 customers, the RTM build (16.0.4266.1000) is the minimum build. For Office 365 customers using the Project Online Desktop Client (the subscription version of Project Professional 2016), you need to be on the previous Deferred Channel build (currently build 16.0.6741.2088) or any other build that is more recent. If you are using any prior version of Project, you will encounter issues connecting to Project Online. This change will not affect you if you are not connecting to Project Online. Make sure you’ve upgraded to a supported Project 2016 build, by February 28, 2017, to continue connecting to Project Online without interruption. Using the Office 365 Secure Score API

The Office 365 Security Engineering team is pleased to announce the availability of the Office 365 Secure Score API. This API is fully integrated into the Microsoft Graph. We think there are at least four possible business scenarios driving consumption of the Secure Score through an API: (1) Monitor and report on your secure score in downstream reporting tools, (2) Track your security configuration baseline, (3) Integrate the data into compliance or cybersecurity insurance applications and (4) Integrate Secure Score data into your SIEM or CASB to drive a hybrid or multi-cloud framework for security analytics.

An Overview of Office365 Service Assurance Resources

One of the challenges concerning those implementing Service Delivery with Office365, is building proof that Office365 complies with regulatory standards and legislation.

Service Assurance is a primary goal

This is particularly important in understanding how Office365 protects your data, especially since it concerns email access, team communication, collaboration, content storage and specifically content viewed and edited in a browser. Service Delivery includes Service assurance, which is an organisational primary goal, and is directly aligned to the C/I/A triad (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability), being key aspects of information security.

For example, Office365 assurance in Availability would mean that authorised users can access resources in a reliable and timely manner. Without service assurance, organisations will have no way of proving beyond doubt that that the service provided meets any information security, legislation, regulatory or audit standards. In order to meet these requirements, Office365 has been subject to a significant risk assessment and audit. You need to be able to understand and apply these to your sector and geographical location, so that you and your customers can further understand the service descriptions, the components, the processes and people and then build your own risk assessments based on what you provide through Office365.

Why provide resources for Service Assurance

The key aspect in meeting information security goals is to first carry out a risk assessment of what you offer through Office365, including references to resources. However, that may be as challenge for many organisations due to a number of factors, such as:

  • Lack of security skillset concerning risk assessment planning and management.
  • Difficulty in determining a starting point and/or having available person resources.
  • Unclear of the provision of Office365 in conjunction with existing services and processes.

This means there is a lot to take on board, let alone understand where to look for the correct resource. To help, Microsoft are focused on the area of Service Assurance for Office365, and have gone to great lengths to ensure that customers are comfortable with not only the security elements, but can prove when audited that the relevant customer industry is covered from a regulatory and legislative perspective. Microsoft have provided plenty of guides and in the Security and Compliance section of Office365 covering:

  • Security practices for data protection.
  • Visibility of independent third-party audit.
  • Implementation of security, privacy, compliance and testing controls.
  • Capacity, Network Security, System Acquisition, Supplier Relationships, Information Security and Legislation (ISO 27001/27018, HIPAA 1996 and FedRAMP).

Office365 Service Assurance offering

Service Assurance is accessible through this link – and you must authenticate using your Office365 account to see the section. A note here: a key step in carrying out a risk assessment is to build an effective team whose responsibility is to draw the relevant resources, build the risk outline, threat models and actions and then give them access to the Service Assurance section. Therefore, it is crucial they have access to the relevant content in the Security and Compliance Service Assurance section. This is further covered in the Dashboard section.

The Service Assurance section is available in the left hand menu and there are five options in that section. These are given in Table 1:

Now follows a quick outline of what to expect from the sections listed above.

Dashboard

Before working on risk assessment, you will need to assign people to access the resources. These people (referred as Users in the Dashboard) would effectively have a ‘Service Assurance Role’. Note that adding users to this role will not automatically alert them (like the default option in assigning user access to SharePoint content). In the Add Users section of the Dashboard link there will be a link titled ‘Go to Permissions’). The below screenshot shows an example of adding a user into the Service Assurance User role.  To add a user, click the Edit icon and then click the + icon to then select a user from your Office365 site of users.

The dashboard also includes information on changes and additions to the Service Assurance section. There is a ‘What’s new’ section which lists new resources you should check out. At the point of writing this article, I noticed the SOC and ISO Audit reports (produced yearly) which is a great resource, going into detail concerning a description of Office365 (software, people and procedures).

A key resource available in the dashboard is the ‘On-Boarding’ article, which is a full description of how to use the Service Assurance section. When visiting this for the first time, I would advise that this document be used as a starting point, advising who can access the Service Assurance section, how it should be done, and crucially about setting the customer industry and regional settings as this will filter the relevant resources accordingly. Other information in this article concerns how to find and download compliance and trust content – and this will be crucial in helping build out your risk assessments.

Compliance Reports

This is where you go to see the third party auditor content used to review and assess Office365 technologies; ensuring they comply with standards, specific to the industry and region chosen. This is split into four sections:

  • FedRamp – contains System Security plans; great high level information concerning Azure security.
  • GRC (Governance, Risk management, Compliance) – A wealth of documents concerning overviews of cloud service architecture, description of service and security overviews. These can be used to aid risk assessments, for example, in Office365 you may need to know the physical architecture and security services surrounding say Lync Online, or what Information Protection protocols are used.
  • ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) – provides information to ensure that services, processes are fit for purpose. Key ISO standards you should also read up on are ISO 27001 (information security management) and ISO 27018 (protection of PII – Personally Identifiable Information).
  • SOC / SSAE 16 (Service Organisation Controls) reports – audits carried out to ascertain the fairness of presentation, suitability of design, and operating effectiveness of the controls relevant to the service being audited.

Trust Documents

Trust Documents are white papers, FAQs, end-of-year reports and other Microsoft Confidential resources that are made available under non-disclosure agreement. This area is split into two sections; FAQ and White Papers, and Risk Management Reports. The FAQ section has a great list of resources, for example, Data Resiliency in Office365, Content Encryption, Cloud Security and more. The Risk Management section lists resources concerning Dynamics CRM, Office 365 in terms of security assessments. For those new to building out risk assessments concerning Office365, I would strongly suggest accessing two very useful documents from this area from the get-go:

Audited Controls

The Audited Controls section lists the global information security standard and regulations that Office365 has implemented. Key ones are the ISO 27001:2013 and ISO 27018:2014 controls. These drill down into the controls themselves, broken into sections concerning the standard itself and associating Office365 with each. For example, I was interested in Privacy Compliance for Office 365 and noted two controls; Countries in which PII might be stored, and Controls over PII transmitted using a data-transmission network. Once clicking on these I could read how Office365 passed the test on this control, the implementation details and information concerning the relevant test. This is extremely useful in understanding how Office365 works under circumstances related to the standard.

Settings

The Settings section allows you to set the Region and the Industry. This is very important and I would suggest your first step, as the resources provided through Compliance Reports and Audit Controls are filtered to what is chosen. Region will list global areas, such as Asia Pacific, Canada, Europe, Germany amongst others. Industry will list the productive enterprises. I’ve noticed this is not alphabetical, so you will need to ensure you scroll through the entire list to see all the sectors. Once this is saved, the filters will operate accordingly.

Summary

You’ve heard the question before – how secure is Office365 with my data? Maybe you have even asked that question yourself, and that question usually spawns others. Where’s the data stored? Is it easy to get to? What controls are in place to protect it? What if I need to comply with specific standards and regulations? Data and the processing of that data forms the lifeblood of an organisation, so it is important to get answers to these questions to prevent, at the very least, customers getting shaky knees when thinking of moving their critical information to the cloud.  Office365 has answers to these questions in the Service and Assurance section of the Security and Compliance Center. Another point in relation to getting answers to the above questions is around the principles of Information Assurance, and trying to get to grips with terms like Confidentiality, Availability, Integrity and Authentication, and what they mean to Information Security and Protection.
